Meet this Month’s Artist
June 2026
Genevieve Hunt
Genevieve Hunt is an environmental activist and mixed-media artist specializing in watercolor and pastel paintings that explore a rapidly changing coastal marine environment around her New England home. As a child, Genevieve spent many happy hours in her family garden learning botany and plant care from her mother, a master gardener and herbal expert. She is committed to documenting the effects of climate change in New England coastal communities. Her education and experience in sustainability, climate science, fine art and botanical illustration, as well as her desire to protect the coastal areas around her homes in southeastern Massachusetts and midcoast Maine drive her art. Her paintings reflect local gardens, forests, beaches and wetlands. She is deeply inspired by the works of artists, such as Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassatt, and Andrew Wyeth. Genevieve teaches watercolor painting to people who share her desire to capture their local natural settings.
